Helping students remember facts about history lessons can be a challenging task. One National Heritage Academies teacher has started to use music to help his scholars connect with the information, and his teaching style.
“As odd as it sounds, being proud of the fact of the kids remember what you taught the previous year is a nice feeling,” he said. “You know that something is lingering, something is sticking around. When it’s also retained knowledge, you understand what is there in the world or what happened.”
Prevail Academy Middle School Teacher Thies Ey uses the beat of a popular rap song to help students remember facts about Mesopotamia, the historical region of West Asia situated within the Tigris and Euphrates River system.
