From Student to Teacher: Kira Vander Molen Comes Full Circle at Grand River Prep

Kira Vander Molen, a 2021 graduate of Grand River Prep, returned to her alma mater as a teacher after finishing college early and discovering a job opening at the school. Initially hired as a paraprofessional, she became a full-time English teacher the following year. Vander Molen says the supportive and collaborative culture at Grand River Prep inspired her to come back and has helped her grow as an educator. Her dedication and teamwork recently earned her the peer-nominated “Titan of the Month” award. She credits her high school experience, including taking 12 AP and dual enrollment courses, with preparing her for success in college and her career. Vander Molen also values the professional development opportunities provided through National Heritage Academies and encourages other alumni to consider returning to teach at their former schools.
