Committed to Safe Schools
NHA® is committed to helping partner schools create safe, secure environments where students can focus on learning and growing. We support the physical and emotional well-being of students so they can feel safe, supported, and connected to their school community.
Our Approach
Supporting Safe School Communities
Trained Safety Team
Each NHA partner school has a trained safety team that supports school safety efforts. Schools follow established policies, procedures, and physical safety guidelines designed to help keep students safe. They also follow the Standard Response Protocols developed by the I Love U Guys Foundation®.
Safety Program
Our school safety program is designed to support a safe and secure learning environment. It includes measures that address physical security and help schools prepare for and respond to emergencies.
A Comprehensive Approach
NHA's School Safety Framework
School safety involves more than drills and emergency plans. NHA's framework brings together the practices and support that help students feel safe and secure throughout the school day, from the classroom to the playground.
Operations Support
From school meals to arrival and dismissal plans, our students' health and safety are considered first in all school operations.
Physical Safety
All doors are kept locked throughout the school day. All visitors are required to check in through the school office and wear a visitor's badge while at the school.
Mental, Behavioral, & Physical Health
We strive to support students in a holistic way by providing resources to meet their mental and physical health needs.
Training
We provide extensive safety training to all staff and students. Training includes emergency protocols, drills, and other safety procedures.
Community & Wellness
We connect families to essential resources for all students, including those experiencing homelessness or those in foster care, through meaningful partnerships, food assistance, and other community resources.
Emergency Management
NHA schools are equipped with an emergency plan and a crisis response team. This team is trained above and beyond other school employees and is in place to respond to critical emergency situations.
