Safety Program
The safety program at NHA® partner schools is designed to help create a safe and secure environment where students can focus on learning and growing. It includes measures that support physical security and help schools prepare for and respond to emergencies.
Safety in Practice
How Our Safety Program Works
-
- All exterior doors remain closed and locked during the school day.
- All visitors, including parents and guardians, must check in at the front office and provide a valid photo ID.
- Visitors must wear a visitor badge and keep it visible while at the school. Anyone without a visible visitor badge will be directed to the front office.
- Visitors must check out at the front office before leaving the building.
-
- Staff monitor building entrances during arrival and dismissal.
- Classroom doors remain locked during instruction.
- Visitors may only enter the building through the front office.
-
Throughout the school year, students and staff take part in safety drills to practice how to respond during an emergency.
-
- Each school has a trained safety team that supports school safety efforts.
- Staff immediately report concerning behavior, threats, and physical safety concerns to the appropriate school leader.
- Assigned staff supervise arrival and dismissal to help keep students safe.
- Assigned staff closely monitor recess to provide appropriate adult supervision.
Parent Partnership
Your Role in Supporting School Safety
Parents and guardians play an important role in supporting a safe school environment. You can help by treating staff with respect, following arrival and dismissal procedures, and talking with your child about school safety.
