NHA® Continues to Grow with Construction and a New School!

NHA Communications Team  |  August 18, 2026
Exciting things are happening across National Heritage Academies® (NHA®) from new schools to refreshed campuses, our community keeps growing.

Here's a look at what’s new!

Summerfield Preparatory Academy

In June, NHA leaders broke ground on Summerfield Preparatory Academy, a new high school in Summerfield, North Carolina. The school is set to open for the 2027-28 school year. It will start with grades seven through nine and add one grade each year until it reaches grade 12. Current Summerfield Academy principal Rudy Swofford will lead the new high school when it opens.

Phoenix Academy High School

Phoenix Academy in High Point, North Carolina is starting the year with a fresh look. Students in every grade will find something new, from classrooms to updated security and improved traffic flow. All three Phoenix Academy buildings were renovated with reimagined spaces. That includes onsite food service, added restrooms, and new common areas. Work continues on a new soccer field and gym.

Sky Ranch Preparatory Academy

Sky Ranch Academy in Watkins, Colorado has grown with the addition of a new high school. Sky Ranch Preparatory Academy will serve students from nearby Sky Ranch Academy, which opened in 2023. Together, the schools give families a continuous NHA path from kindergarten through graduation. The new high school will offer grades seven through 10 for the 2026-27 school year, with plans to add one grade each year through grade 12.

Jonquil Preparatory Academy

In July, Jonquil Preparatory Academy, formerly the International Academy of Smyrna, joins the NHA family for the 2026-27 school year. The school sits near Atlanta and serves about 300 students in grades pre-K through five. NHA educator Landon Brown steps in as principal. He brings nearly 30 years of experience, including 12 years at NHA, to his new role.

National Heritage Online Academy – North Carolina

National Heritage Online Academy (NHOA) – North Carolina is NHA's newest online public school. Opening for the 2026-27 school year, NHOA – NC will serve students in grades K-12 across North Carolina. Students can choose live online instruction, self-paced learning, or a mix of both. Kalli Holland, a former PrepNet Virtual special education dean, will serve as NHOA's principal.
