Summerfield Preparatory Academy Construction Progress
As part of Summerfield Charter Academy's expansion to a full K-12 school, Summerfield Preparatory Academy opens in fall 2027 in a new building for middle and high school students. Seventh and eighth graders will learn in the new building, and we'll add grade 9 that same year, then one grade each year through grade 12. That gives families a clear path from kindergarten to graduation.
We'll share updates below so you can watch the new building take shape.
September 14, 2026 Update
Construction at Summerfield is moving along right on schedule. Crews have poured the concrete foundation and the steel for the gym arrives this week. The team has found a lot of rock on the site, and crews are busy clearing it out so they can keep shaping the land for the building and fields. When it’s finished, the new school will be about 66,000 square feet with two fields!
July 15, 2026 Update
Construction at Summerfield continues to make good progress. The land has been cleared, and work has been completed to help manage rainwater and prepare the site for the next phase of construction. Crews have also started preparing for utility and drainage work, with materials now on site. We are currently waiting for final approval from the Guilford County Health Department before the building permit can be released. Once that approval is received, construction on the school's foundation will begin. We look forward to sharing more updates as we continue building!
