Dress Code

A flexible and cost effective dress code has been established at our school to encourage academic success while reducing distractions and competition. Implementing a simple, flexible, cost effective dress code promotes student learning and increased academic instruction time.

  • A bright green polo purchased only through Image Builders is encouraged.  Please contact the Image Builders toll-free customer service hotline at (855) 654-6243.  A customer service representative will be available from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday – Eastern Standard Time or go to the school website for more information.

  • Limitations - Pants must be worn at the natural waist.  No sagging.  No skin-tight material.  Sweatpants, jeans, athletic shorts/pants, skirts, skorts, and jumpers are not permissible.  Pants with excessive holes/rips are not permissible. 
  • Shorts may not be worn from November 1st – March 1st.

Belts, Socks, and Shoes

Belts

  • Color – Any solid color.
  • Limitations - No extreme designs, studded or roped belts. 
Socks
  • Color – Any color.
  • Limitations – Socks must be worn and not be distracting to the learning environment. 

Shoes Dress, athletic shoes or boots. 
  • Color - Any color.
  • Limitations - No open toed shoes, high heels, athletic slides or sandals.

Not Permitted

  • Excessive jewelry and/or accessories (i.e. facial piercings, hoop earrings, bracelets, chain wallets, and extreme necklaces) as determined by administration is not permitted.
  • No more than two pair of stud-post earrings are permitted. Only ears may be pierced. No over-sized studs.
  • Excessive makeup is not permitted as determined by administration.
  • No doo rags/head scarves/bandanas. Hats of any kind may not be worn in the building.
  • Excessive hair styles and colors that distract from student learning are not permitted. 
  • Scarves are not permitted.
  • Wearing, carrying, and displaying gang paraphernalia, names, signs, or symbols of gang membership are prohibited.
  • Ink on skin is prohibited and must be covered up so it is not visible. This includes any type of sharpie, pen, paint, temporary tattoo, etc.
  • Outdoor apparel is not to be worn in the classrooms. This includes hats, gloves, scarves, coats, jackets, and sunglasses.
  • Backpacks, purses, satchels, etc. are prohibited in hallways and classrooms during instructional hours. The aforementioned items must be stored in student lockers upon arrival and kept there until dismissal.

Spirit Days

During the school year, students may take part in designated spirt days to show school pride. Students must follow the guidelines below. 
  • May Wear – Casual pants/shorts and ANY Emerson Academy Spirit Wear top.
  • May NOT Wear – Skin tight material including: leggings, jeggings, tight jeans, yoga pants or other pants considered inappropriate by administration. Excessive holes/rips in pants/shorts are not permissible.  Shorts may not be worn from Nov 1st – May 1st
