6th - 8th Grade
Middle school is a time of personal growth and discovery. Students have the skills to nurture their academic strengths and interests, exploring complex ideas in all subject areas. Building on previous knowledge and skills, children can apply higher-level thinking to reach beyond the classroom. They analyze and question the world around them, as they prepare for high-school, college and careers. Equipped with a solid moral and academic foundation, students are ready to succeed.

Children read and write across a variety of genres. Using higher-level thinking skills, students interpret meaning, draw conclusions and make inferences. They plan, write and edit stories, essays and research papers. With a solid foundation in grammar and usage, students begin to develop their unique voice and style. Thoughtful discussions provide children an opportunity to express opinions, ideas and critiques. Our school uses the Holt Reader © program to support instruction.
Students build skills to solve algebraic expression and functions. Studying geometry, children learn theories and patterns to apply to real-world objects. They build a strong foundation in data science, exploring probability and statistics. As these skills evolve, children learn to apply correct strategies to a variety of problems. We use Big Ideas Math © tools to support learning.
Children build on knowledge developed in early grades. Science instruction exposes students to more complexity in biology, life sciences, physics, Earth sciences and technology. Students cover topics like matter, energy, motion, technology, biological systems, Earth cycles, space and more. They can apply knowledge to better understand technologies they experience in their daily lives.
Children study civics, world regions, history, government and economics. Using critical thinking skills, they analyze complex issues that affect their communities and the world. Immersed in the continued study of American history, they understand their responsibilities as citizens and the values of American democracy.
Children study art, music, physical education and technology. We also offer electives to provide a well-rounded education.
We're More than Academics
We believe that strong hearts and minds impact the world in amazing ways. For this reason, we teach moral focus in every lesson. They are so meaningful to us that we celebrate them every month as a community with songs, skits and performances. We practice each virtue through:
Social contracts where we pledge to support and encourage each other.
Our CHAMPS classroom management system where children learn social responsibility.
Community outreach programs.
The moral focus curriculum is awesome! My kids are learning things that we are trying to teach them at home. It’s being reinforced here at school in fun and creative ways.
Working through challenges to find success
Treating others as you want to be treated
Helping each other through good and bad
Being honest, fair and trustworthy
Making the right and just choices
Standing up for what is good and right
Managing your impulses to achieve bigger goals
Supporting each other to be our best
Appreciating what you have and passing it forward
