NHA Schools Celebrate Grandparents’ Day

NHA Communications Team  |  October 02, 2025
Scholars welcomed in some familiar faces to their schools, celebrating September’s Moral Focus™ virtue of wisdom with a Grandparents’ Day celebration.

Winterfield Venture Academy, Inspire Charter Academy, and East Arbor Charter Academy all hosted grandparents for a day full of fun and lots of quality time.

At Winterfield, over 100 scholars welcomed a grandparent to school, where the group spent time playing games, enjoying refreshments, and learning more about their family members. The photo backdrop was a popular spot for scholars and their grandparents, as they took plenty of fun photos together.

Winterfield Venture Academy welcomed grandparents in to share their wisdom with scholars.

Admissions Representative Danielle Reddick shared the event was special for families, and she knows all about the wealth of knowledge grandparents can pass down. Reddick called her grandmother her best friend. She said seeing students’ faces when they saw their grandparent was memorable.

“I think it was impactful to see them laughing and coloring and taking pictures, just having a good time with their grandparents,” Reddick said.

Inspire hosted Bingo and Bites for their Grandparents’ Day celebration. The school gym was packed with students and their grandparents for a day of bingo, playing for prizes and having fun together.

Inspire’s bingo event was so popular, school leaders had to find more prizes to keep the event rolling.

Interim Principal Cierra Warner said leaders also spoke about Moral Focus and the September virtue of the month wisdom.

“A lot of them are wise, and we want them to pass along making good choices to their grandbabies,” Warner said. “All the grandparents, students, and staff enjoyed it. Everyone loved the atmosphere and tone, and they’ve already inquired about other events.”

Warner added that the event was such a hit that they had to find more prizes to give away so they could keep the fun going.

It was all smiles for a fun day with grandparents at East Arbor.

Scholars at East Arbor welcomed over 300 grandparents to school for breakfast recently to celebrate Goodies with Grandparents.

"Grandparents enjoyed pastries and fruit with their scholars, had time to sit and talk together, and even walked them to class," Dean Courtney Shelby-Thompson said. "The halls were filled with hugs, smiles, and wonderful conversations, it was truly a beautiful way to start the day!"

Creating special connections with families is important to everyone at East Arbor, it's just one reason why the school has outperformed the local district since its opening in 2011.

So fun to see our scholars connecting with their grandparents! Great work, Winterfield, Inspire, and East Arbor!
