NHA Schools Celebrate Grandparents Day

NHA Communications Team

Grandparents Day is celebrated every September, and schools across the National Heritage Academies® (NHA®) network invited families into their buildings to celebrate. Activities ranged from conversations over breakfast to joining students in the classroom.

Here’s a look at how schools encouraged relationship building between students and their grandparents:

Atlanta Heights Charter School

Grandparents and students gathered for the school’s “Donut You Know?” Grandparents Day Celebration. Atlanta Heights Charter School set the scene for fun stories and delicious donuts, allowing for authentic connection and celebration.

Four Points Preparatory Academy

Grandparents joined students for a Grandparents Day Breakfast, and the event was a huge success! Over 150 grandparents showed up for their students, enjoying a meal provided by SLA Management. Thanks to this dedicated bonding time, students and grandparents alike grew their relationships at Four Points Preparatory Academy.

Great Oaks Academy

Great Oaks Academy welcomed grandparents into the school to celebrate the day and form connections with some of their students’ closest relatives. Grandparents joined students throughout the school day, getting a front-row seat to their daily routines and even participated in activities alongside them.

Inspire Charter Academy

Inspire Charter Academy invited grandparents to school to share special time with their student to celebrate Grandparents Day. The morning included breakfast treats and dedicated time to growing their relationships and grandparents sharing plenty of Wisdom, a perfect pairing to September’s Moral Focus™ virtue of the month.

Jonquil Preparatory Academy

Plenty of grandparents partnered with Jonquil Preparatory Academy for Grits with Grandparents. While students and grandparents alike enjoyed bowls of grits, they had conversations about school and life. Some students even brought mementos and remembered their grandparents who are no longer with us.
