player Ruth Hill, an eighth-grade student at Queen’s Grant Charter Academy, is
the first at the school to make it into the North Carolina South Central
District Honor Band.

competed against more than 140 clarinet players for one of 32 spots in the
player, Matthew Jewell earned a spot as 2nd alternate in the band,
but was not needed to play for the concert. He was ranked 22 out of 80 trumpet
