“It is a tribute to our staff, scholars and parents who partner with us each day to ensure high-quality instruction occurs,” Prevail Principal Mark Weigle said. “This is an enormous school award.”

Capturing Kids' Hearts training began in 1990 with direction from psychotherapist Flip Flippen. He and his team focused on creating a process to help educators implement transformational processes focused on cultivating relational capacity, improving school culture, strengthening trust between teachers and students, building self-managing classrooms, creating accountability, improving academic performance, and fostering trauma-informed care.
More than 37,000 educators nationwide are introduced to these techniques each year.
The goal is to provide educators the skills they need to change the trajectory of students’ lives. According to the organization, campuses implementing Capturing Kids’ Hearts processes consistently report improvements in academic, behavioral, and cultural outcomes.

The Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Showcase School award is considered both a high aspiration and an exemplary recognition of excellence.
