The community event brought families together for a day focused on getting students ready for a great school year. Families received school supplies, enjoyed fun activities, and connected with organizations that support education and students.
NHOA-NC staff joined the celebration with a table where families could learn more about the online school and how it gives North Carolina students another option for learning. NHOA – NC Principal Kalli Holland saw firsthand the importance of offering another choice for families,

“Bringing a new virtual school option to North Carolina and having the opportunity to provide NHA quality education to students across an entire state, many of whom would not have had the opportunity previously, has been an incredible experience.”
Principal Holland was joined by Crystal Dove, NHOA-NC third grade live online teacher, and Joy Mast, NHOA-NC speech-language pathologist, for the celebration. Several NHOA-NC families also came out to take part in the event.
The team also made the day extra special by holding a small ribbon-cutting ceremony at its table. It was a chance to celebrate more than a new school year. It marked the beginning of NHOA-NC’s journey of serving students and families across North Carolina, “We have already surpassed our goal of 650 students for year one, which truly represents how beneficial bringing a new virtual school option to North Carolina has been. I am so proud to be serving our new NHOA-NC staff, students, and families,” says Holland.

As a fully online school, NHOA-NC gives students the flexibility to learn from home while still being part of a school community. Students have teachers, classmates, and school staff supporting them along the way.
Events like the Back to School Bash also give the NHOA-NC team a chance to meet families face-to-face and build connections in the communities they serve.
With the ribbon officially cut and a new school year underway, NHOA-NC is ready to help students learn, grow, and succeed wherever they call home.
