When students and teachers at Excel Charter Academy saw pictures of Hurricane Harvey’s destruction a couple of weeks ago, they wanted to do something to help the storm’s victims.
An Excel teacher was able to contact a former co-worker at St. Thomas Episcopal School in Houston to find out how to help. The St. Thomas teacher provided Excel with a list of basic supplies that the school and students need to continue learning. With the list on hand, the Excel community got busy gathering supplies.
"It's hard to put a number on it, but we've collected a lot,” said Bruce Wright, a Y5s-second grade dean at Excel. “I'm always amazed at how generous our school community is.”
The supplies were boxed up and sent on Sept. 22 to the Houston school.
