Erika Hathaway taught at Wake Forest last year and is now the dean of grades 5-8, but K-4 Dean Randi Woodruff and Special Education Dean Rebekah Ring are new to the school this year.
Wake Forest Charter Academy hosted an ice cream social with Lumpy’s Ice Cream truck.
“It was definitely an amazing event,” Woodruff said. “Several parents and students came to us saying how great it felt to be out in the community and being with the school family to socialize and build relationships again.”
Students rode bikes, ate ice-cream from Lumpy’s Ice Cream truck, danced to music, and won prizes. New teachers met with staff and students and got acclimated to the building.
Staff and students played “get to know you” games.
The new team of deans is working to build a feeling of togetherness with the theme of Building Connections. Led by Principal Brandi Gill, the team is working to continue the connection between students and staff.
“We are working hard to prepare for the school year and are excited about the foundation that has been built and the goals we have set for this amazing school at Wake Forest Charter Academy. It is truly a hidden gem.”
Participants enjoyed Lumpy’s Ice Cream.
Have a great school year, Wake Forest!
