The fair had a National Heritage Academies (NHA) information table with materials from Taylor Prep High School and the surrounding NHA elementary schools – Metro Charter Academy, Quest Charter Academy, and Taylor Exemplar Academy.
“It was a wonderful opportunity to provide useful resources to school and community families by connecting them with local health and wellness organizations,” Schaible said. “There were 20 vendors from nutrition to health and fitness to mental health and aging services.”
Here are the vendors who hosted information tables: Athletico Physical Therapy, Beaumont Teen Health Center, Downriver YMCA, Family Rehab Care, Gleaners Community Food Bank, Hype Athletics Community, Lanzetta Orthodontics, Michigan State University Extension, Molina Healthcare, Northline Nutrition, Romulus Athletic Center, Row-Dio Fitness Studio, St. Croix Hospice, Stand Up Mobile Services, Starfish Family Services, Taylor Smiles Center, The Guidance Center, Wayne Metropolitan Action Agency, Wayne Regional Educational Service Agency, and Wayne State University Mobile Unit.
Representatives from Athletico Physical Therapy and Gleaners Community Food Bank were available to speak with visitors.
Also, Schaible hosted an NHA table with information materials from Taylor Prep High School and the surrounding NHA elementary schools. Ryan Dixon, a PrepNet Virtual Academy admissions representative, provided information, as well.
Schaible contacted several of her existing community partners to host information tables and did a lot of research to find other groups that would be useful.
The Beaumont Teen Health Center received lots of attention, as many community members did not know there was one located in Taylor, Michigan.
“The Wayne State University Mobile Unit actually did blood pressure checks, COVID-19 testing, immunizations, and other basic health screening,” Schaible said. “Another information table, Beaumont Teen Center, offers health services for teens ages 13 to 17, many people didn’t realize there was anything like that in Taylor. That was really helpful.”
Taylor Prep High School scholars helped with set-up and take down for the event and were available to do a variety of other things that Schaible assigned during the event.
Molina Healthcare had information and giveaway items for guests.
“I think it’s important to provide our families with resources they could use to meet their needs,” Schaible said. “Also, it was a nice way to provide exposure for National Heritage Academies and to help community members understand that we provide the whole kindergarten through 12th grade experience in the Taylor area.”
