Peak Charter Academy has been recognized for its strong academic results and the supportive learning environment it provides students. In the 2026 U.S. News & World Report rankings, Peak earned a ninth-place ranking on the Best Public Middle Schools in North Carolina list, marking an important milestone for the school.
In addition to its public school recognition, Peak also ranked third on U.S. News & World Report’s Best Charter Middle Schools in North Carolina list. The school’s elementary program was also recognized, earning the seventh-best ranking among charter elementary schools in the state.
For families, this recognition reflects more than test scores. It points to a school culture built on academic excellence, clear expectations, and strong partnerships with parents. Since opening in 2017, Peak Charter Academy has outperformed the local district by maintaining high standards and supporting students as they take responsibility for their learning.
U.S. News & World Report highlighted Peak’s math and reading performance across grade levels, rating both elementary and middle school results well above expectations. These outcomes reflect focused instruction, a structured learning environment, and teachers who help students build strong academic foundations.
Character development is a central part of the Peak experience. Through NHA’s Moral Focus™ program, students learn monthly virtues and practice making positive choices in and out of the classroom. In fact, 85% of parents at Peak say the Moral Focus program has had a positive impact on their child, reinforcing the school’s commitment to developing both strong students and strong character.
In addition to academics, Peak offers a well-rounded education that helps students grow as leaders and teammates. Students have opportunities to participate in leadership activities, sports, clubs, electives, school events, and field trips, supporting engagement, confidence, and a sense of belonging.
This year marks the fifth time U.S. News & World Report has ranked elementary and middle schools, providing families with trusted information as they explore school options. Rankings are based on math and reading proficiency, state assessments, and how schools perform compared to expectations. Learn more about the ranking methodology here.
