Why Choose National Heritage Online Academy

Online school should mean flexibility without giving up structure, support, or high expectations. At National Heritage Online Academy, students learn from credentialed teachers using the same research-backed curriculum as NHA®'s network of 100+ in-person schools, with two learning models so families can choose what fits.

Two Learning Models

Flexibility With Real Structure

Every family is different, so we offer two ways for your child to learn. Both follow the same curriculum and the same high expectations.

Live Online

Students attend scheduled classes led by teachers, with consistent start and end times that include breaks away from screens for lunch and recess. Live instruction means real-time feedback and the rhythm of a traditional classroom, from home.

Self-Paced

Students have 24/7 access to coursework and move through a sequenced curriculum on their own schedule. Weekly check-ins with teachers and academic coaches keep them accountable and on track.

How We Teach

Support That Meets Your Child Where They Are

Every student works with an academic coach on a personalized education development plan, with weekly check-ins along the way. Teachers monitor progress throughout the year and adjust instruction as needed, so your child gets help before falling behind rather than after.

When a student needs more, targeted intervention and individualized instruction are available in both learning models. Students who are ready to move beyond grade level can take on advanced learning instead.

Working Together

A Team Behind Every Student

Your child is supported by teachers, academic coaches, school counselors, and advisors who work together rather than in isolation. That team monitors progress, provides guidance, and steps in when a student needs more help.

That partnership extends to you. It starts with a Parent Success Meeting, a one-on-one orientation that helps you understand what to expect and feel prepared to support your child's learning at home. From there, you'll connect with academic coaches weekly and teachers monthly, with tools to check attendance, lesson progress, and grades whenever you want.

Beyond Academics

Learning From Home, Not Alone

Character and connection are part of the experience, even in an online school.

Moral Focus™

Through our Moral Focus™ program, students learn essential virtues like gratitude, courage, and compassion. Dedicated lesson time, guided discussions, and regular recognition help students see how strong character shapes their relationships and their school community.

Clubs & Activities

Students connect with each other through clubs built around shared interests like art, coding, gaming, and reading. Eligible students can join National Junior Honor Society or National Honor Society, taking part in service and leadership activities that support their school and community.

Looking Ahead

Planning for What Comes Next

Dedicated counselors work with high school students on college exploration, career pathways, application planning, scholarships, and financial aid, so your teen leaves with a plan for whatever comes after graduation.

The Technology You Need

Students receive the technology they need for online learning, including a device when needed, along with technical support to help your family get set up and stay connected. Families provide a high-speed internet connection.
