Metro Kicks Off 25th Anniversary with Back to School Bash

Metro Charter Academy opened the year with their annual Back to School Bash but had another reason to come together as a community. Metro is celebrating its 25th anniversary all year long and kicked off the campaign with a back-to-school event.

It was an exciting night for Metro families, as they got to meet teachers and set up for a strong year or learning. There were plenty of activities and wide-ranging resources for families to leverage.

Senior Admissions Representative Michelle Schaible said families participated with “passports,” earning new stamps at each station they visited. If families earned a stamp from every table, they were entered to win prizes. While parents were learning more about Metro, kids were enjoying the plethora of fun activities, including face painting and a gaming truck.

With everyone gathering for the beginning of the school year, the event created a sense of community among Metro families. Schaible said providing this sense of community was a priority.

“I explain this when I give tours: we’re a family,” Schaible said. “I think schools walk alongside families in raising their children. I think building that community shows that we’re here to support each other. We’re here to help in any way we can.”

While the Back to School Bash served as the first community touchpoint for the 2025-26 school year, Metro is no stranger to fostering a strong school community. In the world of expanding school choice, remaining a staple in the community for 25 years is no small feat.

“We’ve had challenges,” Schaible said. “But we face them, and we plow through them, and we come back stronger than we were. We’re a pillar in the community and we’re not going anywhere.”

With 25 years of educating comes 25 years of transforming lives. Schaible said there are staff members who attended Metro, a living example of how the school has impacted its students. They felt so inspired by Metro, they wanted to return and give students the same experience they had.

Metro has been transforming lives for 25 years, and Schaible said that the achievement is a testament to the school’s commitment to its students and families.

“We’re here to change lives,” Schaible said. “If there’s one student we can help along the way and change a life through education, then that makes it all worth it.”

Congrats on 25 years, Metro! We’re excited to see what this year has in store.
