Greensboro Academy Celebrates 5 NJHS Award Winners

Five Greensboro Academy students have been selected as recipients of the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) Outstanding Achievement Award. The honor is only awarded to 500 NJHS students across the country each year.

The National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) sponsors NJHS for middle school students and is the creator of the award, which recognizes middle school students who have demonstrated their commitment to the five pillars of NJHS: scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship.

The five students who won this well-deserved recognition are Vikhya Singaraju – eighth grade, Khushi Soni – seventh grade, Eliza Henz – seventh grade, Alexandra Henz – eighth grade, and Lacey Skelton – eighth grade.

“I am thrilled beyond belief to see this fantastic representation of our chapter and our school as a whole,” NJHS co-adviser Angie Murray said. “I am happy all five were selected because they each bring so much to our organization and our community.”

Greensboro Academy’s chapter has only been an official chapter of NASSP’s National Junior Honor Society organization for the past three years and each year they have celebrated a winner of the Outstanding Achievement Award.

NJHS members at the school are required to hold a 3.8 GPA and participate in many school and community activities including fundraising for their partner organization Special Olympics, Adopt-a-Park, Peer Tutoring, Special Olympics Volunteering, and more.

“To have five award-winning students from one school is strong evidence of Greensboro Academy’s focus on academic excellence and high moral character.”

Congratulations Greensboro NJHS students!
