Now Enrolling for the 2026-27 School Year

We’re thrilled you’re considering becoming part of our school community. At our East Detroit-area schools, we create a warm, welcoming environment where families feel valued and supported, and students are empowered to reach their full potential.

We invite you to schedule a personal tour to see our schools in action. During your visit, you can explore the campus, step into classrooms, and learn about daily routines, programs, and expectations. Tours also give you time to ask questions and connect one-on-one with our team.

Below, you'll find details about our enrollment process and upcoming events. If you have any questions, please reach out. We’re here to support you every step of the way and can’t wait to welcome your family to NHA!

Yes. All NHA-partner schools are tuition-free public charter schools that are open to all students in the area.

If you’re still exploring or have questions about who can apply, when to apply, or next steps, our Student Application FAQ page has helpful answers.

What is Open Enrollment?

Open Enrollment is the designated period when families can apply for the upcoming school year and receive equal consideration for available seats. If more applications are received than seats available, a random lottery will be held to determine which students are offered a seat and the order of the waiting list. If fewer applications are received than seats available, all eligible students will be accepted.

See our Open Enrollment FAQ page for important dates and details.

What is the lottery process?

The lottery is a random selection process used to fill available seats in each grade level. A lottery is only held if the number of applications received during Open Enrollment exceeds the number of seats available.

Learn more on our Lottery FAQ page.

What happens if my child is placed on the waiting list?

If your child is placed on the waiting list, don’t be discouraged. Seats often become available throughout the spring and summer. We will continue to keep you informed if your child remains on the waiting list.

Find more information on our Waiting List FAQ page.

What happens after my child is accepted?

If your child is offered a seat, we will contact you by email and text message with next steps to complete registration. To avoid missing important updates, please keep your contact information current and opt in to receive text messages. If we are unable to reach you, the seat may be offered to another student.
