Effeona Emadamerho is headed to the University of Michigan where she will attend the Ross School of Business, and thanks to her time at Canton Preparatory High School, she is ready for the challenge.
The 2025 graduate is a longtime National Heritage Academies (NHA®) student, attending middle school at South Canton Scholars before her high school years at Canton Prep. Emadamerho said this experience at South Canton helped her transition to high school, which provided a familiar learning environment.

“I enjoyed being at a school where I knew that they really wanted to help us when it came to our educational endeavors,” Emadamerho said. “They took the curriculum seriously, so I appreciated that.”
With a continued focus on her education, Emadamerho also enrolled in the Early Middle College program at Canton Prep. After mixing in college courses over the last few years, she will graduate with an associate’s degree from Wayne County Community College District this summer.
The head start on a college education helped lay the foundation for what’s ahead, but also taught Emadamerho valuable like lessons. She credited the program with helping her improve her time management and driving skills.

“It also helped me with exposure,” Emadamerho said. “It allowed me to see more of what to pursue after high school and gave me better insight on how to manage my time, which was really helpful as well.”
The Early Middle College program required time in college classrooms, but the 10-time Student of the Month winner was still involved at Canton Prep, participating in volleyball, choir, yearbook club, and she volunteered to help run a blood drive at the school.
When deciding on her next steps, Emadamerho knew she wanted to attend the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business, which is exactly what she’ll do beginning in the fall. She is planning to earn a degree in business but is weighing two career paths: medicine or information technology.

With whatever Emadamerho decides, she will have the experience from Canton Prep, Wayne County Community College District, and the University of Michigan to lean on.
“I’m really excited,” Emadamerho said. “I recently went to an admissions day at Ross School of Business, and I saw how many connections that the school had. They’ve had investments that allowed the school to grow and offer more opportunities. I’m just excited for the opportunities that it’s going to yield me after graduating.”
Congrats, and best of luck, Effeona!
