Scholars Support Fight Against Breast Cancer

The Brooklyn Scholars’ middle school basketball team recently sponsored a “Go Pink or Go Home” basketball game to raise funds to support the fight against breast cancer. The evening was sponsored by the middle school scholars, who played against various teams to raise awareness for finding a cure for breast cancer.

Students competed against school staff and members of Good Shepherd Services, a community-based organization that works towards a mission of creating opportunities for youth throughout New York City to succeed at school, home, and in their community.

“A fun time was had by all, as scholars showed respect for the rules of the game, encouragement for their fellow teammates, the courage to play against bigger opponents, and perseverance to keep trying,” said Roxanne Thomas, dean of sixth to eighth grade at Brooklyn Scholars.

The scholars raised $800 throughout the evening and will donate the funds to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
