At National Heritage Academies (NHA®), we believe education goes beyond academics. We focus on developing the “whole” student. Our programs emphasize academic learning, as well as relational, social, and moral development.
One of the ways we do this is through our Moral Focus virtues. Each month, our classrooms dive into discussions and activities centered around a specific “Moral Focus.” The nine virtues include:
Here’s why we think this Moral Focus is so important:
Experience greater peace of mind. When kids learn about integrity early on, they grow into confident adults who know who they are and what they stand for. This helps them avoid the fear and anxiety that come from dealing with negative influences.
Make better choices. Self-confidence and empathy are game changers when it comes to decision-making. Students with a solid ethical foundation are less likely to get caught up in peer pressure or bad influences. They’re empowered to make choices that align with their values.
Find purpose. Moral Focus virtues ultimately help students think about how their actions impact other people and help them see the bigger picture. Focusing on others helps people become more caring and considerate – and focus on what truly matters in life.
