Behind the Program
College Counseling at NHA
Koree Woodward, Director of High Schools at NHA, explains how our college and career counselors work one-on-one with students and families through four years of planning, applications, financial aid, and graduation requirements.
Our Staff
Meet Your College & Career Readiness Counselors
Elly Kooinga and Clennette Reid work with students from ninth grade through graduation, helping them set goals and build a plan for what comes next. Whether your teen is headed to a four-year college, a trade program, the military, or straight into the workforce, they'll have someone in their corner the whole way.
Academic Planning
Tools and Resources for Your Teen's Plan
From course selection to transcripts, here's what students and families need to stay on track through high school.
Scheduling & Curriculum
Our rigorous, college-prep curriculum prepares every student for what comes after graduation. Before graduating, students complete at least two Advanced Placement courses, submit college applications, and fulfill at least 60 hours of community service.
Course scheduling and registration happen school-wide twice each academic year, and our staff is available to meet with students anytime to plan courses and talk through the curriculum.
Meet College Representatives
Each year our college counseling team connects juniors and seniors with college and university representatives, giving students a chance to ask questions and learn about programs firsthand. Students should register by the Friday before a scheduled session, using the sign-up forms shared by the college counseling team.
Campus Visits
Seeing a campus in person is one of the best ways for your teen to figure out whether a college is the right fit. Juniors and seniors receive two excused absences each academic year for campus visits. To receive the excused absence, complete the Campus Visit Form and submit it two weeks before the trip.
Order Transcripts
Official high school transcripts are ordered through Parchment. If you already have an account, log in below. If not, visit Parchment's site, search for PrepNet Virtual Academy and create one. Contact the school office with any questions.
