Matt Wilhelm, BMX Flatland Rider, Visits Cross Creek Charter Academy

Cross Creek Charter Academy recently held an assembly in which they welcomed Matt Wilhelm to entertain, educate, and empower students to be confident, caring, and resilient.

Matt Wilhelm, BMX Flatland rider and motivational speaker, is a three-time X Games Medalist, World Championship Silver Medalist, two-time United States National Champion, and Guinness World Record Holder. Among other television appearances, Matt advanced to the semi-finals on America’s Got Talent. He also won America’s Got Talent YouTube Competition, and won FOX TV’s 30 Seconds to Fame.

“The response I get from kids is unbelievable,” said Matt Wilhelm. “I hear from the parents of younger kids how they are struggling with something and will out of nowhere say, ‘Just like the bike guy said to not give up, I'm going to keep trying.’"

Thinking that his story might inspire students, Matt started performing and speaking at schools in 2005. His school assembly program covers perseverance, bullying, kindness, and resilience. Matt visits over 300 different schools per year and has shared his story with millions of students.

“There is nothing greater than making a difference in the life of a young person,” said Wilhelm. “I have done big NBA Halftime shows, performed at Universal Studios, and even turned down a run with Cirque du Soleil last year. For me, it's all about the kids and sharing my message.”
