Coming Soon: National Heritage Academies Announces Plans to Build High School

The feedback has been clear. Parents want their children to have a full K-12 National Heritage Academies (NHA^®) partner-school experience, and the wait will soon be over as NHA is excited to announce its plans to construct a high school, opening no later than Fall 2027.

“This is an exciting moment not just for the families we serve but for NHA and the school boards, who have been anticipating this expansion and its educational benefits for the community,” said NHA Chief Executive Officer Jason Pater. “We believe that education changes lives, so the opportunity to grow our offerings into a high-quality K-12 experience will have impact beyond measure.”

An expansion has long been a dream for Summerfield Charter Academy and Greensboro Charter Academy families. National Heritage Academies has had a presence in the greater Greensboro-area since 1999 when it opened Greensboro, later followed by Summerfield in 2013.

A key driver of high parent satisfaction throughout the years has been demonstrated strong academic performance in a safe environment. For parents, it’s these elements, along with the character-building, Moral Focus^TM curriculum and the strong relationship they have with caring staff, which differentiate an NHA partner-school from its peers.

Learning and growth is evident at each of these schools, with students outperforming their peers when compared to local district and state of North Carolina averages on state tests. In 2023, Greensboro Academy was named a National Blue Ribbon School.

The new high school will be built on NHA property located across U.S. 220 from Summerfield Charter Academy, which is less than six miles from Greensboro Charter Academy. The building will serve rising ninth-graders from both schools; however, as a free, public high school applications will be accepted from all students who apply, regardless of their current school.
