“Sky Ranch is heading into its third year, and we’re truly proud of how far we've come,” Senior Admissions Representative Hannah Navas said. “Nestled right between rural farming communities and the growing urban areas of Aurora, our location is both unique and full of opportunity. The surrounding area is still in the very early stages of development, and with no nearby daycares or preschools, we've had to get creative when it comes to recruiting our youngest learners.”
Events focused on hosting prospective students require extra thinking and planning, Navas said, so this year the introduction of the school’s eagle mascot, Esme, was planned.
“The mascot reveal was a highlight! Our eagle was voted on by the community before we opened but she hadn’t made her big debut until now. This spring, we invited teachers and students to nominate names.”

Principal Jeremiah Whalen requested that the mascot represent the school’s vibrant and diverse community. Several names were proposed, and, after a vote, Esme was chosen as the winner. The name is French in origin and means “beloved” or “esteemed.”
“Our brand-new kinders were the first to meet her, and their excitement was contagious. There were lots of hugs and smiles.”
Navas said the school is thrilled to be expanding from three to four kindergarten sections this year.
“It’s inspiring to think that some of these students may one day walk across the graduation stage as Sky Ranch seniors.”

Congratulations on your expanding kindergarten class, Sky Ranch!
