Charter School Fair Gathers Best of Brooklyn

Brooklyn Scholars Charter School hosted a charter school fair that brought together the vibrant educational communities of four esteemed New York City schools: Brooklyn Scholars, Riverton, Brooklyn Dreams, and Brooklyn Excelsior. Brooklyn Scholars Principal Roxanne Thomas wrote about the event below:
From the moment the doors opened, it was clear that this was not just any ordinary fair; it was a celebration of learning, innovation, and community spirit.

One of the most striking aspects of the fair was the strong representation from all four schools. Each institution had its own dedicated staff members present, enthusiastically engaging with visitors and showcasing the unique programs and opportunities offered at their respective campuses. The atmosphere was electric as educators, students, and families came together to celebrate the power of education.

The table displays at the fair were nothing short of awe-inspiring. From colorful visual aids to interactive demonstrations, each booth offered a glimpse into the dynamic learning environments fostered within these charter schools. Visitors had the opportunity to explore curriculum materials, learn about extracurricular activities, and engage in conversations with passionate educators who are dedicated to nurturing the potential of every student.

A highlight of the fair was the active involvement of the Curriculum & Instruction department, which was out in full force. Not content with merely showcasing their materials, they took a hands-on approach, delivering engaging lessons and sharing content from National Heritage Academies. Families were treated to a taste of the innovative teaching methods and curriculum resources that make these charter schools so exceptional, including lunch provided by SLA Management.

But perhaps the most significant aspect of the fair was the sense of community that permeated the event. It was evident that months of planning, preparation, and collaboration had gone into making the fair a success, and the results were truly remarkable. From parents volunteering their time to staff members going above and beyond to ensure everything ran smoothly, the dedication of everyone involved was palpable. Admissions representatives Nakia Yates and Larnelle Joseph did and amazing job planning and organizing the fair alongside manager Lori Sutter.
As the day drew to a close, there was a collective sense of gratitude and accomplishment. The fair had provided an invaluable opportunity for families to learn about the educational options available to them and for educators to showcase the incredible work being done in their schools. It was a celebration of the past achievements and future potential of charter education in New York City.
