Celebration was in the air at Mountain View Academy on July 4 as the school hosted their annual Independence Day Bike Parade. The school welcomed new and returning families and community members for an event that featured patriotic decorations, treats, and prizes, all while celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States of America.

“We had over 100 people in attendance, including many newly enrolled students and their families,” Principal Nathan Pearsall said. “That made the event especially exciting as we welcomed new members into the Mountain View Academy family.”
The community was invited to show their patriotic spirit when decorating their bikes, wagons, and strollers for the parade, which was led by first responders from the Falcon Fire Protection District. School mascot Eddi the Yeti waved the American Flag and walked with the group while children rode in circles around their families in the block that surrounds the school.

“Families and students put a lot of creativity into their decorations, and we wrapped up the event by recognizing participants with awards for their efforts.”
While the event was a fun time for all, it also served as an important way to connect with current and future families of the school, Pearsall said.

“Events like this are so important because they strengthen the relationships that are at the heart of our school community. They give families an opportunity to engage with staff in a fun, relaxed environment, ask questions, and build connections before the school year begins. For our newly enrolled families especially, it provides a welcoming introduction to the culture and community they are joining.”
The event also gave returning students an opportunity to interact with staff members, including their teachers for the upcoming school year.

“Students were thrilled to see staff members during the summer, and it was great watching families connect with one another outside of the school setting. Throughout the event, there was an incredible sense of excitement, school pride, and community spirit.”
Great work showing your patriotism and connecting with families, Mountain View!
