Mountain View Academy Celebrates Veterans Day with Heartfelt Assembly
In a touching tribute to the brave men and women who have served in the military, Mountain View Academy, which is located in Colorado Springs near the Peterson Air Force Base, hosted an all-school assembly in honor of Veterans Day.

Veterans Day holds a unique significance for the Mountain View Academy community. Each morning, parents clad in military uniforms drop their children off at the front door.
The Mountain View staff reached out to these families, requesting photos of their loved ones in uniform. The response was overwhelming, with more than 80 photos flooding the school's email. Grandparents, parents, uncles, and aunts who have served during various conflicts, including Vietnam, Desert Storm, and other international deployments, shared snapshots from around the world, showcasing the diversity of military branches.

To bring these heroes into the spotlight, Mountain View students and staff organized a school assembly. Veterans were greeted with bright red carnations, notes of gratitude, poetry, and songs performed by students of all ages. The event was full of emotion as three kindergarteners took the stage to read the definition of a veteran, and an eighth grader shared a poignant poem about a soldier's journey.

Many parents expressed their appreciation for the school's commitment to fostering a sense of patriotism and gratitude in the younger generation. It’s just one reason the school has outperformed the local district for the past two years. They also acknowledged the educators and staff who had worked with the students to instill a deep understanding of the importance of Veterans Day and the value of the military service provided by their families.
