Jaworski’s husband Jonathan is in the military, and they worked together to nominate Meyering for the special award which recognizes supervisors who provide outstanding support to National Guard or Reserve employees, or their spouses.
“I was very surprised,” Meyering said. “Crystal and her son Braydyn presented it to me in the assembly, which was really special.”

Meyering said the school’s proximity to several military bases and facilities has created a special awareness of the dedication and sacrifice of military families. While she doesn’t have a family connection to the military, Meyering said students and staff at the school have numerous close family members who are active service members and veterans.
“We have a really large community of people in the military in our area, and we just want to show them our support and gratitude for all they do to keep us safe. If there's even an ounce that I can reciprocate, I want to be doing that.”
That appreciation is also shown during the school’s annual Veteran’s Day assembly in November, which draws a large crowd from school families and the surrounding community.

“We do a really beautiful Veterans Day assembly every year and our gym is packed. We invite active duty and veterans to attend. Students come up and speak about their family members who are in the service, talk about what they respect or admire about them, and share if they are considering military service themselves.”
Meyering said everyone at the school tries their best to make it a family atmosphere. That includes supporting military families in their time of need, whether that be a deployment or other challenge.
“I have so much gratitude and connection to those who are currently serving. Maybe we can't fully relate because we don't know what it's like to serve, but we can love and support their kids and continue to be a constant structure and safe place for them. I'm really grateful for their service and am honored to receive this award.”

Great job supporting the military families at Landmark, Principal Meyering!
