Greensboro Students Show Determination, Exceed Fundraising Goal of $50K
Students at Greensboro Academy showed their determination and commitment to their school by raising over $50,000 during their fall fundraiser.
More than 70% of students participated in the fundraiser, which supports the school’s booster organization that funds sports, extracurricular activities, events, and school enhancements.
Principal Tracey Duhaime said students created short videos of themselves requesting donations for their school programs, then shared the recordings with relatives and friends.
“Students also work together to earn class rewards such as popsicles or extra recess and there are promotions for teachers as well. Each morning the kids would watch the character video during Moral Focus™ time and receive announcement updates about classes who were leading the charge.”

The fundraiser, hosted by the Boosterthon organization, also aligned well with the school’s Moral Focus™ program as each day students learned about different character traits such as creativity, patience, generosity, and reliability.
Students were very focused on reaching their goal of $50,000 and were equally energized by the prizes offered. Grades K-4 earned a glow dance and 5-8th earned a silent disco to celebrate their accomplishment. They also earned day passes for Great Wolf Lodge, an indoor water park.
“They were very excited and really enjoyed the glow dance and silent disco. Probably the most significant thing in their minds was exceeding the goal, not necessarily the amount, and earning Great Wolf Lodge day passes.”
Congrats on exceeding your goal and learning great character traits, Greensboro!
