Capstone Academy Celebrates Grand Opening with Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

Excitement is building for the first day at Capstone Academy, one of National Heritage Academies’ (NHA®) newest schools. School leaders and community members came together for a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday to celebrate the completion of the school, which is set to begin classes on Aug. 13.

Founding Principal Jenna Reeves, Board President Lewis Ortiz, and NHA Founder J.C. Huizenga spoke to a crowd full of families and community partners. Before cutting the ribbon to officially open the school, all three shared their excitement for what’s ahead.

Families and members of the Commerce City community were also welcomed in for tours, photo opportunities, and light refreshments. Reeves said the school community has been engaged in the lead-up to Capstone’s inaugural year.

“From participating in events to voting for our school mascot, our community’s participation has been so important,” Reeves said. “It’s our school and it will be what our community makes it. We have really enjoyed getting to know our Capstone families at different events and can’t wait to open the doors for students on Aug. 13.”
