Westfield Charter Academy Gathers Kinder Students for Kindercamp

NHA Communications Team

National Heritage Academies’ newest school, Westfield Charter Academy, recently held their first annual Kindercamp. There were 65 students that attended both days to participate in a day in the life of a kinder student. This included arrival, class time, walking to specials classes, recess, restrooms, having lunchtime, and dismissal.

“This event is important because it eases the anxiety of new students and parents,” said Ira Kleiman, principal at Westfield Charter Academy. “They make friends and meet the teachers, deans, and principal. This helps them feel more comfortable and confident on the first day of school.”

Parents had the opportunity to run through arrival and dismissal procedures, which assists in making the first day of school run much smoother. Additionally, they were able to meet school staff and ask any questions.

“My favorite part of Kindercamp is having the students in the building for the first time as our scholars!” said Ninfa Mazzola, dean of lower elementary at Westfield Charter Academy. “There's so much positive energy in the building that it gets everyone excited about the upcoming school year.”

For a fun activity, Mad Science Group Inc. led students in various experiments. Mad Science brings science education to millions of children each year and is a convenient way to offer students a hands-on and fun science experience. Their in-class science workshops offer professional lesson plans, unique equipment, and dynamic instructors.

“The students thought it was so cool to play with worms and learn about the solar system and rockets,” said Mazzola.

Sounds like a great start to the first academic year at Westfield Charter Academy!
