Josue said the experience pushed him to grow in ways he never expected.
“It helped me step up my writing and build discipline,” he said. “College professors don’t remind you about every assignment, so I had to learn how to stay on top of my work.”
Josue started dual enrollment classes after his sophomore year. Along the way, he balanced college coursework, high school classes, and extracurricular activities. He also traveled to college campuses for classes, something he said would not have been possible without his mom.
“I’m really thankful for my mom because I can’t drive yet,” Josue said. “She was crucial for me getting that experience.”
Growth and Confidence
Before coming to Wellspring Prep, Josue was homeschooled. He said high school helped him become more outgoing and confident.
“When I first came to Wellspring, it was a big change,” he said. “But I was able to make a lot of friends and build relationships.”
Josue also credits the school’s environment for helping him succeed.
“The teachers are really supportive,” he said. “I haven’t met a single teacher who wasn’t willing to help students succeed.”
Outside the classroom, Josue enjoyed student council, student ambassadors, and music. He plays classical guitar and bass clarinet and plans to study computer science with a minor in music after graduation.
Plans for the Future
He hopes to become a programmer one day and possibly combine music and technology with his future career.
As he looks ahead to college, Josue said he feels excited and prepared.
“I feel like Wellspring has helped prepare me not only for college, but for my future,” he said. “It helped me build work ethic, discipline, and confidence.”
Josue also said the Moral Focus™ virtues he learned at Wellspring Prep will stay with him long after graduation.
“They teach you how to interact with people and work with others,” he said. “That’s important in any career and in life.”
Congratulations Josue!
