Walton Charter Academy Celebrates its 20th Anniversary

Walton Charter Academy recently celebrated its 20th anniversary by hosting a community event. The event had over 70 attendees, including former students from the very first year that Walton was open. The evening included brief presentations by the school’s principal, Mona Boersma, along with exciting family activities.

The event offered attendees the opportunity to participate in games, play on inflatable obstacle courses, listen to music, enjoy tasty food, and win prizes that were up for grabs. There were short presentations throughout the evening with picture slideshows.

“This event definitely celebrated Walton’s past, present, and future,” said Christy Holtzclaw, academic specialist at Walton. “This event allowed families the opportunity to come out together and have a fun night with each other.”

During the evening, alumni bonded while signing paw stickers and placing them around their graduating class picture collage. Current and past Walton families also enjoyed bouncing on the inflatables as part of the 10th Annual Family Carnival that took place the same evening. Walton students even had the chance to win school swag by playing a Plinko game. Current and former students concluded the evening over a Happy Birthday cupcake to celebrate the event.

“Staff and alumni enjoyed sharing memories and catching up!” said Holtzclaw.

Walton was established in 1999 and is one of the oldest schools in National Heritage Academies’ family of schools. The school currently serves over 800 scholars in grades kindergarten through eighth.
