Communities in Schools

Linden Charter Academy is thrilled to partner with Communities In Schools (CIS), a non-profit organization that works in collaboration with schools across the country to provide support to empower students to stay in school and succeed in life.

The goal of CIS is to surround students with a caring community of support. This is created by helping families access critical resources like food, housing, health care, counseling, and other needed support.

Making a Difference in Students' Lives

CIS specializes in developing school support plans, working with school leaders to create goals and objectives that will be implemented at the school. Additionally, they partner with outside agencies and school staff to enhance school programs by offering added support for our families.

CIS has an on-site coordinator at our school who works with our staff, school leaders, families, and students to provide support services.

Our partnership with CIS has many benefits, including:

  • Supportive guidance and counseling
  • Educational Support
  • Tutoring
  • Mentoring
  • Enrichment Activities

Our Values

We Partner

We partner with schools and parents by placing a full-time, dedicated site coordinator in a school, identifying kids at risk of dropping out and not graduating, or have needs like those above.

We partner with local businesses, social service agencies, health care providers and volunteers.

We Connect
Our Values

We Connect

We connect programs, services, and resources to students in need, keeping them in school and on a path to life-long success.

What We Do

Non-Academic Assistance

Helping with basic needs like healthcare, nutrition or clothing so young people are better prepared to learn.

One-to-One Mentoring

Instilling the confidence to succeed, the belief that education creates opportunity, and setting the expectation for success.

Tutoring

Young people who fall behind often stay behind. We help kids catch up and stay ahead.

Family Involvement

Ensuring children have a supportive home life, increasing parent-school involvement, and helping parents access the services they need.

Preparing for the Future

Students build leadership and life skills, explore college and career options, and understand how their education is connected to their financial future.

CIS School Plans

CIS specializes in developing school support plans to create goals and objectives that will be implemented at the school. They also partner with outside agencies and school staff to enhance school programs by offering added support for our families. This support could include hosting parent events, providing clothing or housing assistance, providing access to backpacks or supplies, and mentoring programs.
