This is Tracey Duhaime: Principal at Greensboro Academy

Tracey Duhaime has been invested in Greensboro Academy for nearly two decades. “Fifteen years actually, first as a parent, then teacher, then middle school dean. Both of my children went through Greensboro. Now my daughter is a senior at North Carolina State University, and my son is a junior in high school. We’ve built incredible community here.” It only makes sense that Tracey Duhaime would also become Greensboro’s principal.
 
According to Tracey, a legacy of committed, happy teachers has built a thriving community where students can succeed. “We have high expectations for our staff, students, and administration team. We work hard to model what we are asking our students to do – give 100% effort each day and meet one another where we’re at. As a staff, we are committed to challenging students when they need to be challenged, following state standards, and helping each one reach their full potential.
 
“We build responsibility and independence into our classrooms because we know our students will eventually go on to high school, where we want them well prepared academically and socially. We also pride ourselves on partnership with parents. We practice an open-door policy, welcoming them as volunteers and partners. We know we couldn’t accomplish the great things we do without parental partnership. Moral Focus is another huge area for us. We want Greensboro students to be well educated but also good, kind people who can have a positive impact on their community.”
 
But the thing Tracey loves most about Greensboro? “Getting to know the students. Hands down. I love building relationships with kindergarteners who just want you to hug them, and with middle school kids who count on you to confide in. We truly love how many of our students come back to tell us what an impact the school has had on them and the successes they are seeing. Our teachers make it easy to feel cared about here, to be ‘at home’ and welcome.”
