Ms. Full-Figured Georgia pageant winner, Liza Ashe, visited with girls in fourth, fifth, and sixth grade, helping them navigate life as a young lady and inspiring them to success in the school year ahead. This two-hour session with the Ms. Ashe’s Royal Court centered on topics including leading with confidence, handling peer pressure, overcoming challenges, conflict resolution, and much more.
While there was a lot of discussion, hands-on activities also helped students gain confidence ahead of the new school year.
Four Points Principal Amanda Brown said the activity paired perfectly with Moral Focus™, helping solidify students’ foundations of these virtues.
“Their talk tied right into wisdom and making wise choices,” Brown said. “They talked about what to do when things don’t feel right and speaking up for yourself. They touched on self-control and respect, too.”
Seeing pageant queens that looked similar to themselves and people they love made the experience relatable for students.
The day was interactive for participants, as well. They played ice breaker games throughout the day, which accomplished one of Brown’s goals. She wanted these girls to form relationships as they grow into middle school age.
Laying the foundation for a positive middle school experience is crucial for Brown, and she hoped the activity would set the tone for Four Points’ first class of middle schoolers.
Four Points Principal Amanda Brown said she wanted to inspire these young students and set the path for an excellent school culture in middle school.
“Our returning kids became mentors for the new students,” Brown said. “They’re able to hold new students accountable and say, ‘This is how we do things at Four Points.’ These kids will be leaders and help new students navigate the building, build relationships with teachers, and just make them feel more comfortable with getting involved.”
While participants soaked in these lessons, the Royal Court wanted to give participants helpful items and a tangible way to remember the discussion. At the end of the day, students went home with a bag full of personal hygiene items, lip gloss, girl magazines, and more.
Brown and Ms. Ashe are working on finalizing dates for more activities like the Confidence Camp.
Students were engaged throughout their time with Ms. Full-Figured Georgia, Liza Ashe, and her Royal Court and wanted to know when they could participate in more events. Thanks to just two hours and the help of Ms. Liza Ashe and her Royal Court, Four Points set the culture for their middle school and built lasting friendships.
