Dress Code

A flexible and cost effective dress code has been established at our school to encourage academic success while reducing distractions and competition. Implementing a simple dress code promotes student learning and increased academic instruction time.

Shirts/Tops

K-5

Shirts must be white with collars (includes mock turtleneck, long- or short-sleeved, cotton or knit) and embroidered school emblem.

6-8

Shirts must be light blue (powder blue) with collars (includes mock turtleneck, long- or short-sleeved, cotton or knit) and embroidered school emblem.

Boys

Appropriate button-down shirts are expected to be in line with respective grade level noted above.  Variations in style and color are not permitted.
 

Girls

Blouses or appropriate button-down shirts are expected to be powder blue. Variations in style and color are not permitted.

All shirts must stay tucked in pants.

Hats, Shoes & Accessories

  • Hats or bandanas of any kind are not permitted
  • Socks/tights must be white or navy
  • K-5: Brown, black, or navy shoes (loafer type or casual dress) are to be worn at all times
  • 6-8: Black shoes (loafer type or casual dress) are to be worn at all times
  • All Grades: Athletic shoes may be worn only on P.E./gym days
  • All Grades: Boots are not permitted except as outerwear
  • Boys: Earrings and other body piercing ornaments are not permitted
  • Girls: A reasonable number of earrings are permitted - Only ears may be pierced
  • Makeup is not permitted

Bottoms

Belts must be worn with trousers that have belt loops.

Miscellaneous

  • Grey sweatpants and grey crew neck sweatshirts are permitted on P.E./gym days in lieu of the traditional school uniform. 
  • K-5: The light grey gym uniform should be plain with no logos (students are encouraged to purchase the official school gym uniform with the BECS emblem)
  • Cold weather attire may include solid color sweaters or vests in white without hoods
 

Not Allowed

Wearing, carrying, and displaying gang paraphernalia, names, signs, or symbols of gang membership is prohibited.
Hooded sweatshirts, fleeces or clothing with graphics and/or logos are not permitted.

Hair & Hygiene

  • Extreme hairstyles are not permitted
  • K-5: Hair color must be of natural tones and may not be professionally colored, dyed, or streaked
  • Boys: Hairstyles must be conservative with hair being off the collar
The personal grooming of students should be in accord with the standards set by the uniform dress code.
Students should be clean and neat when at school.
