Dress Code

A flexible and cost effective dress code has been established at our school to encourage academic success while reducing distractions and competition. If you require assistance in paying for uniforms, please call the school at (718) 859-8400.

Uniform Store

Tops

Colors

K-2: Bright green
3-5: Grey
6-8: Mon. - Thurs. white
       Fri. bright green
Note: A bright green polo purchased only through Image Builders is encouraged
 

Type

K-5: Short- or long-sleeved polo.
6-8: Short- or long-sleeved dress shirt. Students have the option to wear a navy blue blazer. (Mon. - Thurs.)
       Short- or long-sleeved polo (Fri.) 
 

Cold Weather

Fleece jacket or sweater cardigan style (button or zip from the bottom) must be waist-length and solid-colored in navy. 
No hoods are permitted.


Add’l

6-8: Ties purchased through Image Builders are encouraged. 
Shirts must be tucked in at all times.
Students must wear grey sweatshirts and matching sweatpants on assigned gym days with no logos, emblems, or markings except the school name printed on the left side of the chest.

Hair & Hygiene

Colors

Hair must be of natural tones.
 

Style

For boys, hairstyles must be conservative with hair being off the collar.
The personal grooming of students should be in accord with the standards set by the uniform dress code. Students should be clean and neat when at school.

Not Allowed

Extreme hairstyles, hair ornaments, and colored faux hair are not permitted.

Bottoms

Pants, shorts, skirts, skorts, and jumpers
 

Add’l

All bottoms must be either longer than the fingertips when the student’s arms hang at their sides or no more than three inches above the knees.

Not Allowed

Sweatpants, bell-bottoms, boot cut, wide-leg pants, hip hugger, skinny, regular, carpenter/cargo pants, pants with multiple large pockets, drawstring pants, sagging pants, and low-risers are not permitted. Denim and jean materials are not permitted.
No clothing items may be wrapped around the waist.

Hats & Accessories

Colors

Solid white, brown, or black socks must be worn. 
 

Add’l

Crew-length socks must cover the ankles and be visible above the shoes.
A reasonable number of modest earrings that are shorter than 1 inch longs are permitted.

Not Allowed

Hats and bandanas may not be worn in the building.
Belts are not allowed to be decorative.
Body piercing ornaments are not permitted.
Makeup is not permitted.

Add’l

Shoes must be solid brown or black and closed in the front and back. 
Clothing must fit the individual in a modest fashion i.e. No tight fitting pants, shirts, low cut shirts, etc.

Not Allowed

Clothing may not be ripped or torn. Bare midriffs are not permitted.
Tattoos are not permitted.
Wearing, carrying, and displaying gang paraphernalia, names, signs, or symbols of gang membership are prohibited.
