Your Child’s Journey at Atlanta Heights: What to Expect
Video transcript
Hi, I'm Dr. Juanita Daunoy, the principal of Atlanta Heights Charter School.
Atlanta Heights is the place to be. We are focusing hard on instruction in terms of math, science, and English
language arts. We are ready to get our children in, get them learning, get them focused, especially with our moral focus program and excited about learning. We have the STEM program that we've done and we want to continue to do with our students, our three to grade eight students. These are science, technology, and math programs. The students get to do so much with that. They learn about so much with computers. They do some coding. So, us offering these things really make a difference to our students. It's a teaching community.
We have interventionists that come into the classroom. We have parapros. We want parents to be a part of our parent advisory committee. Our PTA moral focus has been great. I'm excited to use it in the dayto-day dealings with our students. We have some great moral focus books to actually read to our students that focus on those good behavior traits and things that we should be doing. It's that standard that National Heritage Schools have, that standard that we should have as Atlanta Heights.
We also want to make sure we are providing a safe and secure environment for our children. We do this by making sure we have procedures, policies, and systems in place to ensure the safety across the board for all of our learners. If children are in a safe environment, they can easily learn. So, it is important for me to make sure we have all of the right people in place. We have the resources in place. We're communicating effectively. We have policies and procedures in place to maintain a safe environment. If you're supporting them socially, emotionally, you can get the best out of children.
