Students Raise Money by Spreading Holiday Cheer

Students from Advantage Charter Academy have been busy spreading holiday cheer as part of the fourth annual “Windows for the heART” program. Students are painting windows and entrances throughout the school to raise money to help an Advantage family celebrate the holidays.

“The donations consist of a minimum of $5 anywhere up to $20 depending on the size of the window,” said Brandi Wheat, art teacher at Advantage. “The students really enjoy giving back.”

The teachers who lead the program collaborate with students, faculty, and staff to determine whom they want to nominate as the recipient of the donation. On average, Advantage raises roughly $150 to give to the selected family.

The students do not know who the money ultimately goes to, but they do know that it goes to help an Advantage family in need.

“It makes me feel grateful that I get to do this,” shared one scholar. “I know I have a lot of stuff but being able to give to another person makes me feel good inside,” said another Advantage student.
