Mitch Bosch: National Heritage Academies’ First Dean of Excellence Award Winner

National Heritage Academies’ annual Eagle Awards recognize individuals, teams, and schools for the incredible work they do to transform our students lives.

But this year, there was a new award to add to the docket: The Dean of Excellence Award. This prestigious award was created to show appreciation to our deans who support more than 60,000 students and 3,282 teachers. Twelve finalists were recognized, but only one winner received the award.

The first – and only – Dean of Excellence Award winner is Mitch Bosch, newly appointed principal at Knapp Charter Academy!

Bosch received this recognition after serving as dean of upper elementary and special education at a fellow NHA school, Vanguard Charter Academy, since 2015. Bosch has come back to Knapp after starting his NHA career here as a seventh- and eighth-grade science teacher and will now serve as the school’s principal.
This award recognizes the hard work that Bosch has done in his time as a dean to transform our students’ lives. “I might have earned the Dean of Excellence Award, but I know it is because of the hard work of so many around me,” says Bosch.

Now, as he moves on to the role of principal at Knapp, he reflects, “I have always wanted to support as many students as possible. Each opportunity that I have had to grow in administration has given me the opportunity to help and support more teachers than can then help and support more students. I went into teaching knowing that I wanted to help people.”

With a servant’s heart, Bosch strives every day to grow more students. Congratulations on this incredible honor, and your new role with Knapp, Mitch Bosch!
