At Detroit Merit Charter Academy, students can explore their interests, learn new skills, and make new friends through a variety of extracurricular activities. Boy and Girl Scouts

Our scout members learn important skills they can use for life. Duties include engaging in community events, aiding others through acts of service, and growing in leadership.

National Junior Honor Society

This program was created for outstanding middle schoolers. These students are often recognized for efforts in academics, character, and service.

Yoga

Yoga can be a great way for students to increase health and concentration. This class includes stretching, posing, and breathing exercises.

NHA Shines: Stanford Study Shows Our Students Surpass Their Peers by 3.5 Months Each Year

A recent Stanford study shows NHA partner-school students continue to outperform their traditional public school peers. They do so by gaining nearly three-and-a-half months of additional learning. NHA also earned the new “gap busters” designation for outstanding progress in eliminating learning disparities for minority and poverty students.
