Ira Kleiman, principal at Westfield Charter Academy, and Aquan Grant, principal at Westfield Preparatory High School, joined WDIV host Tati Amare to discuss their methods when it comes to teaching values in the classroom.
Methods include crafting a social contract and following their Moral Focus curriculum.
“The teacher will either read to them, or students will read an engaging text where they make the connection between the Moral Focus virtue and what they’re learning in that text,” said Kleiman. “Kids love it because it’s engaging and relevant to them.”
