Gratitude Baskets for Firefighters

Firefighters at Firehouse Ladder 55 and Detroit Police Station 6th Precinct received a visit from Warrendale Charter Academy student council members who delivered Fall Harvest Servicemen Gratitude Baskets for the fourth year in a row.

“The fire chief and all of his men came down and thanked the students and staff," said Juanamia Kelly, a parapro at Warrendale, who accompanied the students. “They were all smiles.”

Officer Pistolesi remembered meeting with the students last year and retrieved pictures from the last visit, said Kelley. She agreed to visit the school and bring a few colleagues during March is for Reading Month,” said Kelley.

Students packed the baskets with food donated by Warrendale staff and students. Each basket included: hot chocolate, apples, oranges, cookies, cider, candy, tea, peanuts, pretzels, a cheese roll, and a sausage roll.

“Each year we show our appreciation and continue to build our partnership by making festive baskets,” Kelley said.
