Fill in the blank: My best summer survival secret is _____________.
Triumph AcademyTue - May 17
Dear Triumph Academy Parents/Guardians: It is with regret that I must inform you of the death of Mrs. Connie Niemi, a beloved former teacher and dean at Triumph Academy, on May 17. As many of you know, Mrs. Niemi courageously battled cancer and retired from Triumph this past February. Mrs. Niemi was part of the opening staff team at Triumph Academy in 2004. Prior to that, she was a staple in the education community in our area. I know many of our school parents had the honor of being taught by Mrs. Niemi. She dedicated close to 30 years helping students reach their full potential. We wanted to make you aware of this sad news and give you a chance to talk with your child about the situation. Death can be hard for anyone to understand. I encourage you to be as open and honest with your child as you are able. Reactions to stress and loss are varied and can depend upon such factors as age, personality, and previous losses. If you feel that your child has been affected by this situation, you can help your child by doing the following: Take time to listen to and talk with your child about what has happened. Reassure your child that you will be available to help him/her through this difficult time. Let them know it is okay to feel sad when someone dies. Staff and social workers will be available at Triumph tomorrow to offer support to students who may need help processing this loss. Visitation and funeral arrangements will be available via tomorrow's Monroe Evening News. If you wish to express your condolences to Mrs. Niemi’s family, please feel free to drop-off cards to the school office. Please keep the Niemi family in your thoughts and prayers in the coming days as they endure this time. Sincerely, Mrs. Amy M. Tansel
