South Pointe Scholars Wins Four Eagle Awards

Press Release

YPSILANTI, Mich., July 29, 2014—National Heritage Academies (NHA), one of the nation’s largest charter school management companies, honored its top performing schools, including four in the Ypsilanti area, during the fourteenth annual Eagle Awards ceremony.
South Pointe Scholars Charter Academy earned four Eagle Awards for Academic Growth, Employee Engagement, Parent Satisfaction, and First Year Teacher Effectiveness.
First Year Teacher Effectiveness is a new award this year which honors outstanding school value-added results (at or above the 90th percentile) on the Northwest Evaluation Association for first year teachers.
South Pointe Scholars Charter Academy Principal Nancy Kouba reacted to the new award by saying, “We are so proud of our first year teachers. We know they do an outstanding job in the classroom, and we have set up a great support system to help facilitate this type of performance.”
NHA’s system of schools is designed to eliminate achievement gaps and provide school choice to families, with the clear objective of preparing children for success in high school, college, and beyond.
National Heritage Academies is a charter school management company operating 76 schools in nine states for the 2013-2014 school year. It is currently serving more than 50,000 students in grades kindergarten through eighth.
